Require only Physicians currently outside of Qatar.
Licensing:
Must hold a valid home-country license to practice.
Must be eligible for registration and licensing in the State of Qatar as Specialist.
Mandatory post-speciality clinical work experience from one of the following institutions:
a. Government or Semi-Government hospitals or institutions
b. Government or Private Hospitals that provide post graduate training programs (Ex. University Hospital or Teaching Hospital)
Note: Not mandatory for the required years of experience to be the most recent experience provided that there is no break of practice.
A Women’s Imaging Radiologist is a diagnostic radiologist with subspecialty expertise in imaging techniques for diagnosing diseases specific to women.
This includes imaging of the breast, pelvis, and reproductive system.
Their work is essential for early detection, diagnosis, and follow-up throughout a woman's life.
Breast Imaging
These radiologists play a crucial role in breast health by performing and interpreting a variety of imaging studies and procedures, such as:
Screening and Diagnostic Mammography
Includes 2D and 3D/tomosynthesis to detect early signs of breast cancer.
Breast Ultrasound
Used to assess palpable lumps, dense breast tissue, and for guiding needle procedures.
Breast MRI
Indicated for high-risk cancer screening, surgical planning, and implant assessment.
Image-Guided Breast Biopsies
Conducted using ultrasound, stereotactic mammography, or MRI for accurate tissue sampling.
Pelvic and Gynecologic Imaging
Focused on evaluating the female reproductive organs, particularly for complex or chronic conditions:
Pelvic Ultrasound
First-line tool for assessing the uterus, ovaries, fibroids, cysts, and endometriosis.
Pelvic MRI
Advanced evaluation tool used in cancer staging and surgical planning.
Sonohysterography & Hysterosalpingography (HSG)
Specialized studies used in fertility assessments and evaluation of the uterine cavity.
Obstetric Imaging
In some roles, particularly in general women’s health centers, they may also contribute to obstetric care by:
Interpreting Fetal Ultrasound Scans
Evaluating Early Pregnancies
Identifying Fetal Abnormalities
Cancer Screening and Follow-Up
They are integral to cancer care through:
Detection and Surveillance
For cancers such as breast, uterine, ovarian, and cervical.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Work alongside oncologists, gynecologists, and breast surgeons for coordinated care planning and monitoring.
Procedural Work
Women’s imaging radiologists also perform interventional procedures:
Image-Guided Biopsies and Aspirations
Targeted interventions for breast and pelvic masses.
Pre-Surgical Localization
Wire or seed placement techniques to guide breast surgery.
